Sanford Gaylord (J'halil)

Sanford is a professional actor director and writer based in Chicago. he is a co-founding member of A Real Read Performance Ensemble. Sanford is a columnist for Lambda Publications, BLACKlines and Windy City Times periodicals. He is the recipient of the Chicago Association of Black Journalist 1998 Award of Excellence in Commentary and the 1999 Black Kettle for Arts and Journalism presented by the greater Chicago Committee. his commentary has appeared in Butivoxx, Malebox and Positively Aware. sanford works in the filed of HIV Prevention Research at Howard Brown Health Center and is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Columbia College in Chicago.
