Sharon Zurek

Sharon is the owner of Black Cat Productions in Chicago and enjoys working on independent features, short films and social issued documentaries. Her film and video experience includes producing, directing and editing commercials, broadcast, and corporate programs and independent films.

She is happy collaborating as an editor with many talented Chicago filmmakers like Mike Meiners who produced and directed The Trouble with Dee Dee which premiered in 2005 at the Chicago International Film Festival and Jennifer Vincent, Christina Varotsis and director, Bruce Terris on Dirty Work. Both films were discussed as case studies at the 2005 IFP Summit.

Earlier feature film editing work includes Runaway Divas, Stray Dogs, Constructing Mulligan's Stew, The Chameleon, and the video mockumentary, The Orphan Saint.

She picked up a Best Editor award from Chicago Community Cinema for her work on Bruce Terris' short film Flying, which screened at the 2002 Cannes International Film Festival and has been seen on IFC (Independent Film Channel)

Sharon has an extensive background in film and video production with more than twenty-five years of experience. She produced and directed the award winning Kevin’s Room and Kevin's Room 2-Trust, Two, one-hour dramatic films about HIV prevention and education for gay men of color.

Her earlier work as an independent producer and cinematographer won funding and a variety of awards, including the Regional Student Academy Award.
